Nursing Scholarships & Fellowships

“I went through nursing school on the hospital’s fellowship program. I first started here over fifteen years ago as an orderly and the hospital was very accommodating when I was going to school. It’s a great place to work and, thanks to Shore Memorial, I have a career I love.”

Steve Fuchs, RN - Operating Room

Financial Assistance Available to Nursing Students

The Shore Memorial Academic Nursing Fellowship

Provides assistance to students enrolled in any accredited registered nursing program. Qualified candidates can receive a total of $7,000 per year in exchange for a commitment to work 2,080 hours for each year sponsored at Shore Memorial after graduation. Students must be accepted to the school of nursing and achieve a minimum 3.0 average to be considered.

To apply, candidates who have been accepted to an RN program must submit a copy of their letter of acceptance, a resume detailing past educational and work experience, a cover letter stating that the information contained within is for consideration for the Academic Nursing Fellowship program, a grade transcript from all previous educational endeavors, and two letters of recommendation from past supervisors or instructors who know the caliber of your work. Once all information has been received and approved, the selection committee with set up a personal interview.

The Sambrook Fellowship

Outstanding employees beginning or furthering their nursing education can receive $2,000 per year through the Sambrook Fellowship endowed by a generous former patient. Informational packets are available from the human resources office.

Tuition Reimbursement Program

Full-time employees are eligible for $4,000 tuition reimbursement per year; part-time employees can receive $2,400 per year. Students using this strategy often take longer to graduate because they typically take a class or two at a time while working regular hours at Shore. Tuition Reimbursement may be utilized for collegiate level courses either in a traditional classroom setting or via on-line courses.

In addition, on-site academic education is available through the University of Delaware Focus Program and the Richard Stockton College Life Corp. Learning Program.
