On-line Resources

NetLearning - Free continuing education programs are offered to our employees. The topics include computers, patient care, medical terminology, personal and professional development, leadership and more.

NursingCenter.com - Nursing employees receive unlimited free continuing education through the organization's subscription to NursingCenter.com.

Computer

Computer classes are conducted or offered on-line for the applications that are utilized throughout the organization. For example: Lotus Notes, PeopeSoft, Cerner, NetLearning, Kronos, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Powerpoint, Microsoft Access.

Preceptor Development

The Preceptor Workshop provides the preceptor candidate with the background necessary for helping the new, or newly transferring nurse, with effective learning tools for professional nursing practice. This course will help the preceptor candidate to examine and apply theory, increase personal and professional growth, and bridge the gap between educational programs and the reality of the workplace.

The Leadership Development Institute

Leadership Development

Shore Memorial is committed to develop future generations of leaders in healthcare willing to take the Shore Memorial Health System to the next highest level. Our goal is to provide employees both foundational and forward-looking career development challenges through a powerful combination of opportunities including academic continuation, training and development in all types of platforms, participation in the Leadership Development Institute, and eventually an internship in the Executive Suite.

The institute is designed to provide the resources to help develop any employee with the aptitude and leadership competencies to compliment the organization's overall growth and development We have established three distinctive developmental paths that will help future leaders achieve their goals.

Level I - Pathways to Leadership

Pathways to Leadership is the initial program level for candidates with leadership potential. The selected candidates will participate in a ten month program that incorporates curriculum that includes classroom and on line training modules, exercises and assignments related to both personal leadership and organizational effectiveness.

Level II - Developing the High Achiever

Developing the High Achiever is the second program level. Eligibility includes completion of Level I or hold a position of Director or Administrative Director or above. The selected candidates will participate in a ten month program that incorporates a variety of blended learning activities including on line, classroom, roundtables and community projects. The selected candidates will have a mentor/coach assigned during the ten month program.

Level III - Foundations for Executive Leadership

Foundations for Executive Leadership is the third program level. To be eligible for this phase, candidates mush have completed Level II, Developing the High Achiever or hold the position of Director or Administrative Director or higher. The selected candidates will participate in a variety of blended learning activities designed to provide assessment and exposure to the competencies required for corporate leadership. The selected candidate will be mentored/coached by a Vice President during a ten month period or longer.

Coastal Critical Care Consortium

The consortium is made up of educators from SMH, CRMC and ACRMC. Classes are planned and delivered at all three organizations and awarded ANCC contact hours. These courses are open to anyone in the organziation who are interested. These courses are focused on nursing care of specific diesaes processes.

NonViolence Crisis Intervention (NVCI)

NVCI is a six hour course taught by certified instructors. Instructors are certified by the Crisis Prevention Institute, an international organization certifyng instructors in many countries and languages.

Provider Unit

Shore Memorial Hospital is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the New Jersey State Nurses Association, Provider Number P203-7/06-/09. NJSNA is accredited by the ANCC Commission on Accreditation. Provider Approval is valid through July 31, 2009.
