Joan T. Gavin

MS, RN, NEA-BC, Vice President of Nursing/CNO

Ms. Gavin, was appointed to her current position in March of 2003. Ms. Gavin obtained her Nursing Diploma from King’s Daughter’s Hospital School of Nursing, Martinsburg, West Virginia in 1967. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing, graduating with high destinction from Penn State University and received her Master’s Degree in Hospital Administration from St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1995.

She is certified in Advanced Nursing Administration by the American Nurses Association through the American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC). Ms. Gavin has over 40 years of nursing and over 25 years of hospital and nursing administration experience at various hospitals.

Prior to joining the Hospital, Ms. Gavin had been the Chief Operating Officer of the Voorhees Division of Virtua Health.  In addition, Ms. Gavin has been the Associate Executive Director for Nursing at both Virtua and the Metropolitan Hospital in Philadelphia and the Administrator for Emergency and Trauma Services at Temple University.

Ms. Gavin’s professional affiliations have included the New Jersey Hospital Association, The American Hospital Association, American Nurses Association, the New Jersey Organization of Nurse Executives, the Southern New Jersey Peri-natal Cooperative Board and the American Osteopathic Association.
